Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Temple is located in Kundrathur a suburb of Chennai in the Kancheepuram district  8 kms west from Pallavaram and 8kms north east from   Poonamallee.

History:


Lord subramanya swamy victorious the demons in Tiruporur and went to Tiruttanigai in delight. On the way, Lord Subramanya Swamy stayed on small hill and placed shiva linga(Kandaleeswarar) worshiped and meditated in deep. This places was constructed by the great Chola King Kulothunga Chola II which is now called as Kundrathur subramanya swamy temple.


About Temple:


Lord subramanya swamy temple is positioned in small hill(Kundru) This is the only temple where lord murugan standing in north facing direction. Here Lord Subramaniar can be viewed on Sanctum with Valli and Deivayanai. Lord Subramaniar can viewed from  one side or on another side with only one Goddesses eventhough there is Goddesses on both left and right hand side. 


To reach this hill temple there are 84 steps laid and there is a road way to travel to the hill.  The design of the sanctum sanctorum is remarkable.
